På planeten Cybertron rasar krig mellan de två fraktionerna kända som Autobots och Decepticons om rasen av mindre, kraftförstärkande Transformers som kallas Mini-Cons. I ett försök att fly konflikten som omger dem flyr Mini-Cons från Cybertron med hjälp av Autobots, men en attack från Decepticons lamslår skeppet när det flyr genom en rymdbro. Skeppet materialiseras i solsystemet och träffar månen, där det bryts itu. En del av skeppet förblir inbäddad i månen, medan den andra störtar ner till planeten nedanför. Mini-Cons, alla inlåsta i femkantiga stasispaneler, är utspridda över hela världen. Skeppet kraschar mot jorden och 4 miljoner år går.
