Handlung

Kuwait, 2003. Sie gehören zu den Besten der Besten: die gut ausgebildeten Soldaten des ersten Aufklärungsbataillons. Die Männer fiebern in der sengend heißen Wüste ihrem ersten Einsatz entgegen. Das ewige Warten schlägt aufs Gemüt, mit zynischen Sprüchen und derben Witzen schlagen die Soldaten die Zeit tot. Endlich gibt Colonel Stephen „Godfather“ Ferrando (Chance Kelly) den Marschbefehl. Begleitet wird der Zug von „Rolling Stone“-Redakteur und Kriegsberichterstatter Evan Wright (Lee Tergesen). Im Geländewagen von Teamleader Brad „Iceman“ Colbert (Alexander Skarsgård), dem Fahrer Ray Person (James Ransone) und dem Gefreiten James Trombley (Billy Lush) nimmt der Journalist an den Erkundungsfahrten teil. Eigentlich soll das Bataillon die Positionen der irakischen Streitkräfte an die nachfolgenden Truppen melden. Aber immer wieder werden die Soldaten Situationen ausgesetzt, für die sie nicht ausgerüstet sind. Sie müssen sich gegen fanatische Dschihadisten, Baath-Mitglieder und republikanische Garden schlagen und erleben grausame Gemetzel.

    First Recon get their next mission, which is to help escort the Iraqi civilians leaving Baghdad from a nearby highway, while trying to help them flee, the men see the humanity in the Iraqi civilians; First Recon come to the realization that since Baghdad is the next stop for American and Coalition forces, their war is almost at a close.

    Having reached Baghdad, Bravo Team is shocked at the size of the city. While First Recon begin doing their daily patrols in Baghdad, they find out the obstacles that they and the Iraqis face is much greater than they could ever think of.
