Dánská seriálová produkce dnes platí za pojem na světovém trhu, ale bývá převážně asociována s ponurými kriminálkami. Její mezinárodně nejúspěšnější a nejoslavovanější příspěvek, který je všeobecně považovaný za jeden z nejzásadnějších titulů celosvětové televizní tvorby, nicméně náleží do zcela vlastní žánrové kategorie. Jak napovídá název, Vláda je seriál o politice, potažmo o její provázanosti se světem médií. Hlavní hrdinka Birgitte Nyborgová, předsedkyně hlavní středové strany, se v prvním díle stává překvapivým vítězem voleb a následující epizody sledují její působení na postu premiérky. Při tom vyprávění sleduje nejen rovinu profesní s osobním životem a ukazuje nejen, jak se idealistická politička učí manévrovat v prostoru vládních jednání a mocenských bojů během událostí lokálního rázu, ale i mezinárodního dosahu. Současně se zaměřuje také na její rodinný život, který je vystaven těžkým zkouškám.

    Two and half years later, Birgitte is traveling the world out of politics when suddenly the changing Moderate Party makes her want to return. The problem is, Krause, whom she sent away to EU, is the leader of the party now, and does not want her back. Sojro however tells Birgitte to oust Krause as a leader. Birgitte hires Kathrine to help her, and they try to get the votes together so Birgitte could once again become the leader of the Moderate Party.
