줄거리

나나세 하루카는 '물'에 닿는 것, '헤엄치는 것'을 좋아했다. 초등학생 시절, 같은 스위밍 클럽에 다니고 있던 나나세 하루카, 타치바나 마코토, 마츠오카 린, 하즈키 나기사. 그들은 초등학교 졸업 전 대회에서 거둔 우승을 마지막으로 각자의 길을 향했다. 이윽고 시간이 흘러, 고교 생활을 무의미하게 보내던 하루카 앞에 돌연 린이 나타난다. 하루카에게 승부를 걸어 압도적인 힘을 선보이는 린, 이대로는 끝낼 수 없어. 그리고, 마코토와 나기사가 다시금 모이고, 새롭게 류가자키 레이를 끌어들여 '이와토비 고교 수영부'를 설립한다. 하루카, 마코토, 나기사, 레이, 그리고 린. 이것은 약동감 넘치는 남자 고교생들의 수영과 청춘과 유대에 대한 이야기.

Haruka, who is attending college in Tokyo, meets Asahi again and reawakens his memories from his middle school years, including those of Ikuya. Makoto is working toward a new dream while he is in Tokyo together with Haruka. Rin has an unexpected meeting in Sydney.

    Haruka has entered Hidaka University, where he's now training with the swim club to prepare for a newcomer tournament. One day, he runs into Asahi, a swim teammate from middle school. Haruka is later joined by Makoto, who also moved to Tokyo, at a coffee shop to catch up with Asahi... and the topic quickly turns to Ikuya, another teammate they swam with in middle school. On the day of the newcomer tournament, Haruka and Asahi are in the same race for the first time in years... and the spectacle is watched by Hiyori, who calls Haruka an "inferior copy of Ikuya." After the race, as Haruka is walking through the halls with Asahi, he catches sight of Ikuya passing by..

    The Iwatobi High School Swim Club is participating in a joint training camp with the Samezuka Academy and Soufuukan High School teams. Sousuke is also participating as an alumnus. In the midst of the excitement, Rei and Nagisa notice that something is odd about Romio's swimming. Then Shizuru tells them the story of what happened to Romio in middle school...

    Haruka's next race is the All-Japan Invitational, which determines who will represent Japan at the global level. To prepare for this important tournament, Haruka is invited to a special training camp.

    Makoto has been unable to get in touch with Haruka following the friendly race at his training camp, making him worry that Haruka is dwelling on what happened. Then Nao approaches Makoto to tell him about a rumor he heard.

    Makoto meets up with the members of the Iwatobi Swim Club who are in Tokyo for the nationals. Meanwhile, Haru continues his training.

    Nagisa, Rei, and the rest of the Iwatobi Swim Club have come to cheer on their former teammates at the All-Japan Invitational. Makoto tells them the story of how ever since Haruka swam for the first time, he'd been swimming only freestyle.
