줄거리

고아원의 신부 살인 누명을 쓰고 경찰에 쫓기고 있던 시마무라 죠는 수수께끼의 남자들에게 납치되어 사이보그로 개조된다. 수수께끼의 남자들은 세상의 그림자에서 암약하는 죽음의 상인 블랙 고스트단의 앞잡이였으며 그들은 다가올 미래에 있을 커다란 전쟁에 대한 계획 중 일부인 사이보그 병사 계획의 시작품으로써 죠를 개조한 것이었다. 그 후 009라는 코드네임이 붙여진 죠는 그와 마찬가지로 블랙 고스트 단에게 납치되어 개조당한 제로제로 넘버 사이보그들과 그들을 개조한 장본인인 길모어 박사와 함께 블랙 고스트에서 탈출하고 사람의 마음을 가지고 있으면서 기계이기도 한 자신들의 존재와 슬픔을 가슴에 안고 블랙 고스트 단과 끝나지 않는 싸움을 계속한다.
