Το «The Get Down» είναι ένα love story ανάμεσα στον Εζέκιελ και την Μαϊλίν. Αυτός είναι ένας έναν έξυπνο και ονειροπόλος έφηβος που έχει ταλέντο με τις ομοιοκαταληξίες στις λέξεις και αυτή είναι μια Λατίνα με χάρισμα στη φωνή της που θέλει να γίνει σταρ της ντίσκο. Η οικογένειά της όμως είναι πολύ αυστηρή και θρήσκα και θα κάνει τα πάντα για να την εμποδίσει να πετύχει το όνειρό της. Ο έρωτάς του για αυτή είναι κινητήριος δύναμη, ακόμη και αν δε βρίσκει ανταπόκριση. Και γύρω από αυτούς τους δύο σχηματίζεται ένας ολόκληρος κόσμος.
