Overview
Robert Zemeckiksen ohjaama elokuva on epälineaarisesti ja staattisesti kerrottu tarina, jonka tärkeimmässä pääosassa ei ole henkilö vaan paikka. Here ”Täällä” on paikka, jonka päällä ensin vaeltavat dinosaurukset, sitten seuraa jääkausi, sitten ajan edetessä siellä asuvat intiaaniheimot. Lopulta tulevat uudisasukkaat ja viimein ”tähän” rakennetaan 1900-luvun alussa talo, jonka olohuoneen kautta avautuu näkymä ihmiseloon ja koko elokuvan kerrontaan. Talossa ja sen olohuoneessa asuu useita perheitä, joiden elämästä, kuolemasta, suruista, iloista ja lopulta luopumisesta rakentuu palapeli, jonka palat loksahtavat vasta lopussa lopullisille paikoilleen. Senkin jälkeen taloa tulevat odottamaan uudet asukkaat historian jatkuessa.
