Handlung

Dee Dee Blanchard und ihre Tochter Gypsy Rose ziehen in eine neue idyllische Nachbarschaft nachdem ihr altes Haus durch Hurricane Katrina zerstört wurde. Neue Freunde kann die Jugendliche Gypsy jedoch keine kennenlernen, da sie an mehreren schweren Krankheiten leidet. Einzig Nachbarstochter Lacey kann sich mit Gypsy anfreunden.Doch die strengen Regeln von Dee Dee verbieten es Gypsy wirklich etwas unternehmen zu können. Schon bald erkennen die Nachbarn und andere Menschen im Umfeld der Blanchards, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Tatsächlich ist Dee Dees Beschützerinstinkt gegenüber ihrer Tochter zwanghaft und kennt keine Grenzen. Ist Gypsy wirklich so krank, wie ihre Mutter es darstellt?
